PJ Simas – Bruno Mars Medley Feat. Cato Webb

Another fresh remix?

PJ Simas & Cato Webb Covering/Remixing three songs off of Bruno Mars’ “Doo-Wops & Hooligans.” This is the fifth song released off of PJ’s back to school remix series.

Sactown’s Finest aka PJ Simas delivers another hot cover/remix, but this time he includes three songs in one, all some of my favorites from Bruno Mar’s latest album, which happens to be incredible. The three songs that he adds together are “Grenade,” “Liquor Store Blues,” and “The Lazy Song.” As always, PJ Simas outdoes himself. This cover/remix happens to have my favorite of his features in any of his songs, and her name is Cato Webb. Her vocals are so pure and amazing. As for PJ, his production is filthy once again. He combines different recordings of himself on the acoustic guitar and combines it with his own rapping and vocals by Cato Webb. In our last update on our friend PJ Simas, we were told that this would be the final song of his “Back 2 School: Remix Series.” Well, school has been going on for a while in most areas, so that’s understandable. Become a fan of PJ Simas on facebook and follow him on twitter. Expect PJ to keep feeding us some fantastic songs, and also expect him to make some major moves. I guarantee his next mixtape is gonna be truly amazing. Make sure you check out his other great work on GMAD by clicking here.

Blue Scholars – Big Bank Hank

Watcha gon do today?

I’m gonna rock out to some dope Blue Scholars… this song is hot. If you don’t know much about Blue Scholars, you should start becoming a fan now because they have a lot of good songs, and this one happens to be a free one. They seem to add some fantastic beats to their incredible rapping. The blue Scholars rep Seattle and tour a lot with Macklemore, who also happens to have some really good songs, too. Long weekend for me, so I’m hoping to have a good time. I hope you all have a great weekend, too. Shouts to Haas for adding the mp3.

Hit the jump for their commentary

Occasionally, Geo and I find ourselves stuck in these phases of indecision.

In the studio (also known as my brother’s video editing room) we were wrapping up a new cut for release on the iNtErnetZ and, for whatever reason, were completely unable to come up with a hook for it. The beat was done, the verses were done, but alas, no hook.

Now, I’m not saying we didn’t have ideas. We did. Plenty. But they were just a whole bunch of whatever-blah-ideas and none were really anything we could decide on and polish. I was beginning to get annoyed.

I mean, we shouldn’t be frustrated right? It’s not like music is our job or anything…

Anyway, at some point Geo shrugs his shoulders, steps to the mic, and starts shouting “Watcha gon do today?”

I recorded it.

While I’m playing back the recording, he starts answering himself by shouting random stuff he plans to do that day. It was an odd choice, but I ended up recording that too.

When that take was finished, we played it back… kinda sat in silence for a second.. looked at each other… said something to the effect of “$@# it!” then hi-fived in a way that wasn’t lame and went and got some Crispy Ginger Chicken at the Kauai Family Restaurant.

Did we finish the song? Yes.

Was the hook a good choice? I dunno.

Did the events described in this email really transpire exactly the way I said they did? Most likely not.

Olu – Difficult

Must Download Olu

Here’s a brand spankin’ new track from one of GMAD’s favorites, Olu. The sampling, the lyricism, the track, all shine with that special Olu glow that he puts on every track. He samples Uffie’s “Difficult,” and he kills it. Olu putting out a good track is nothing new. Become a fan of Olu on facebook. Here’s some words from the man himself…

This is coming of my Thirsty Thursday mixtape which is coming soon, I still haven’t set a date yet cause i’ve been juggling that mixtape along with The Great Escape, a ton of collabs and college. I just wanna make sure I fill out both tapes to the max with like 20 or more songs each.

“This is dedicated to:

1. The Olu haters….thank you.

2. Wack Rappers who need a clue.

3. All the TRUE Olu fans, I fucking love you, I’ll never stop

2 mixtapes on the way”

Update: More news from Olu:

I’m doin really big things this fall and winter. In addition to working on Thirsty Thursday and Great Escape, I talked to Big Z last night and he wants to do a 4-song Itunes EP with me. His beats are amazing and a collab between us would be epic. I also just did a track with Collin Mcloughlin for his album, and I’m planning out a collab with S-Preme. Things are only about to get bigger, I haven’t even surfaced yet. Expect a load of new shit from me, I’m talking like Musical abuse. As long as I have a voice and a microphone, I don’t really see myself stopping

Collin McLoughlin – An Update

Here’s an update about what Collin McLoughlin had been up to:

I’ve been performing a bunch of shows at schools, Trinity and Cornell, and I’m finishing the album. Olu is on a track, Sam Adams is on a track, Kinetics is probably hopping on one also.

A video of one of his recent performances is coming soon. Expect some big stuff from Collin.

Cam Meekins – Lights

Is he getting serious about a rapping career? I think so…

Is it just me or does he sound different. Yes, he sounds more confident in his rapping and chooses to include a nice beat to compliment his ever-increasing skills. I was told by someone working close with Cam, who also produced some of his tracks, that his next tape Cam Meekins’ Day Off, which is dropping in a few days, on Tuesday, October 19, is gonna be fire. Rihanna ft. Drake – What’s My Name

For your R&B fix

I guess this is more for the ladies. This is a very nice collab with some beautiful vocals from Rihanna and a nice verse from Drake at the beginning. Shouts to Michael Millay for the tip. Her’s an update on my computer: American Express sent it to the wrong address after countless times telling them to ship it to a certain address, so I probably will not have it till Tuesday, since Monday is Founder’s Day at Gonzaga. Expect so many more posts from me then.

T.I. Sentenced to 11 Months in Jail

Here’s the story according to ABC News

Grammy-winning rapper T.I. was sentenced to 11 months in prison on Friday for violating the terms of his probation. The 30–year-old hip-hop star was arrested in September on suspicion of possession of the drug Ecstasy.

T.I., whose real name is Calvin Harris, sought leniency in the case as prosecutors pushed for a two-year sentence, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

“I screwed up. I screwed up big time and I am sorry,” Harris said before U.S. District Judge Charles Pannell. “I’m truly and sincerely sorry. I don’t want and I don’t need to use drugs anymore. I want them out of my life.”

Harris faced a potential 30 years in prison for federal gun charges in 2007 when he was arrested following the Black Entertainment Television awards. He paid a $100,000 fine and was sentenced to one year in prison after completing 1000 hours of community service while under house arrest.

T.I. ft. Chris Brown – Get Back Up

At least he has optimism…

I guess this is an appropriate track name for T.I., since he is gonna have to try to get back up after his new prison sentence of 11 months. See the story on that here. Even though all the misfortunate events happing to T.I., he still makes an optimistic, nice track with Chris Brown, which is pretty smooth. I’m pretty sure his next ablum, King Uncaged, will remain unscheduled for some time now.

I admit, yeah I’ve done some dumb shit/ Disappointed everybody, I know/ Try not to hold that against me though.

Apologies

So this is a post purely to say that I am sorry to all the GMAD followers out there. As some of you know, we tagged up a track a couple days ago for the first time. Well, thanks to you guys, I have finally noticed that’s the opposite of what we are about here. I started this site to bring you guys the best legally free music I thought college kids would enjoy, and that’s what it’s about: the music. It’s hard not to get caught up in the business side of things and lose focus on what’s important, but that’s why I love all you viewers. I apologize for losing sight of what this website is about, and thank you guys for making sure we don’t turn into the competition and tag up songs, charge an artist for a post and chance to break through, sue competitors, and lose the real drive: the power of music. Who cares if other sites take tracks from us? We take some from others (always try to give credit) and realize there’s too much good music out there for us to find even a small portion (but we try). It’s too easy to get caught up in life and the materialistic things: music is what this site is about. And to show how I strayed from what we at GMAD are about, I’ll quote my own bio I’ve had since the beginning (the T Webb who started GMAD for the love of music, NOT the one who tagged a song and got caught up in it all)

Music is something special and I would love to remind everyone to take time out of your days to listen to music you enjoy as a way of relaxing and escaping the stress of the world. Hopefully we at GoodMusicAllDay can bring some of that music into your lives, and for free nonetheless. Enjoy!

We are here for you guys, for the artists, and most importantly for the music. So with that said, my apologies, and here is the DJ free version of They Were Here by Jasper Kid (which all of you should listen to all the way through, the sampling is great, it’s groovy n trippy n mellows out at the end . . . well at least listen to the first min and give it a chance and i think you’ll enjoy)

Flo Rida – Turn Around (5, 4, 3, 2, 1)

Another future club hit

Not too long ago, Flo Rida got turned us on to “Right Round.” Now we are commanded to “Turn Around” in “Turn Around (5, 4, 3, 2, 1).” I’m not sure if I can expect anything other than a club hit from Flo Rida. He cranks out really good party tracks all the time. This time, he wants the girls to make their booties go “da da whoa” over this hot dance beat. Expect nothing less than a dope party album from Flo Rida on November 30, titled Only 1 Flo (Pt. 1). Shouts to Michael Millay on the tip, again.

Kanye West – Take One For The Team (feat. Keri Hilson, Pusha T & CyHi The Prynce)

Another G.O.O.D. Friday

Here is yet another 6+ minute song with multiple features from Kanye. I really think this has a love/hate kind of beat for me with the beat boxing (not a fan) and the electro over tones (love). I do enjoy the verses and think that these G.O.O.D. Fridays are getting better as he experiments with different song types and believe that by the time he releases his album it should be dammn goood. ENJOY!

A-Trak – Ray Ban Vision f. CyHi Da Prynce

Ridiculous Beat

Within 5 seconds I think you will know how you feel about this song. Clearly a track from A-Trak will mainly focus on the beat and give us sometihng unique that will be out of your comfort zone, for better or worse. In my case, this was for the better and I realllly enjoy this funky, electro beat. You may now recognize CyHi Da Prynce since he has been featured on 2 G.O.O.D. Friday tracks (Here and Here) and I don’t think he disappoints on this track either. I am really looking forward to A-Trak’s upcoming album, Fools Gold if he keeps on releasing crazy beats like this. Side Note: you know that he produces some crazy beats if Nike is willing to have him make a custom playlist for thier Nike+ running shoes. Also, shoutout to Mitchell Sussman for suggesting the song a bit ago. ENJOY!

I’m aware it’s just a picture but I’m excited enough for the alum that I felt the need to share. No tracklisting yet, but stay tuned. November 9th people. Mark your calendars.

Who is the ‘Hottest MC in the Game’? x ‘Best MC of the Last Decade’?

Some of you may remember last year when Jay-Z was given the honor of being named the Hottest MC in the Game, by MTV. Well it’s that time of year again and the first 5 names on the list will be announced tomorrow. To steal some of MTV’s fun, BET put out their own list, of the Best MCs in the Last Decade. I don’t really have much to say other than Jada doesn’t do it for me and Ross doesn’t deserve to be on the list. Only recently has he gotten more lyrical. As for those missing, Nelly and The Game stand out to me. Yes I know Nelly has gotten MUCH worse with time, but Country Grammar is one of the best albums of the last decade. As for The Game, he put the left coast back on the map after EVERYONE forgot about it. The South and the East took over the game and The Game (with the help of Dre, of course) reminded people to pay attention to the West. Basically The Game changed the game, ha. Hit the jump for Boi-1da talking about the list (he was one of the panelists). Please sound off in any way, shape, or form about either list. Check pack tomorrow for the first 5 MCs.

BET’s List:

1. Eminem

2. Lil Wayne

3. Kanye West

4. 50 Cent

5. T.I.

6. Ludacris

7. Drake

8. Young Jeezy

9. Jadakiss

10. Rick Ross
