Rich Hil – Purple Roads n Shit [Ft. Florence & The Machine]

Get lost in the beat and the words full of feeling

Rich Hil aka Richard Hilfiger, also known as Tommy Hilfiger’s son, released this song in early July, and I didn’t know of it until yesterday. This is a dark song that samples Florence & The Machine’s “Purple Roads n Shit.” The song has a lot of feeling. Rich Hil’s voice in the song, along with the Florence & The Machine sample allow me to wrap myself in the lyrics and lie down, daydreaming and trying to discover the deep meaning behind Rich’s song. I would have expected this on the soundtrack of the movie “The Invisible,” alongside Death Cab’s “I Will Follow You In The Dark.”

G-Riot – In A Cage [Ft. Khadijah]

Another hit from G-Riot

I’m really enjoying this unreleased song from G-Riot. Even if you haven’t lost someone due to them having to go to prison, I’m sure you’ll feel for this song. It hits straight to the heart. G-Riot’s voice usually has so much feeling in it, allowing you to connect with the song easier. He brings Khadijah on the hook, and she does a nice job vocally. The second verse is arranged to sound like G-Riot’s on the phone from behind bars. As always, check out G-Riot’s facebook page.

This is a track from G-Riot’s first album. It was never officially released, however this track is one that we decided to resurrect and re-release. G-Riot’s “In A Cage” focuses on the people who are locked up in this world.

Jon Connor – Epic

Beautiful Flow and Lyricism

Spotted this over YK2. I’ll let them talk..

The homie Young Sav sent over this brand new record from up & coming emcee Jon Connor. The Flint, Michigan native has certainly been doing his thing for a hot minute, and now here’s his formal introduction to the blogosphere. Aside from the dude’s energy on the joint, his flow and lyrics are pretty crazy. Hungry artist indeed. Check it out below.

Akon – Angel

Insane New Akon

Just a club banger here folks. This is the first single off his new project. It sounds like D-Guetta on the beat but there has been no official word. Enjoy your Thursday..

Trae tha Truth – Bad Don’t Seem So Wrong feat. Lupe Fiasco

Nice Sample + New Lupe

Some good news here, Lupe is the first verse. So, if you have terrible song ADD like me you have no problem ignoring Trae tha Truth. Not a terrible song all in all. This is off Tha Truth’s new album if you care. Enjoy that Akon song… ha.

Jonny Price – Love Don’t Cry (Skeletons Remix)

Chilling indie performance

Jonny Price, in a way, sounds somewhat like Death Cab. He has a great voice. He sings up until 3:15 and then switches to rapping. I chose to feature him more for his vocals. The song’s instrumental is from The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s song “Skeletons.” The song was Mixed and Mastered by Daniel Lonner and has additional Vocals by Emma Henderson. I logged on facebook one day and was bombarded by Dan Lonner from The Band Eclypse. He had me check out his song, since aparantly he wowed the whole band at their studio. Well, here’s info Dan had on Jonny Price:

Jonny Price is a 21 year old singer/songwriter/producer from Westchester, New York. The video was directed by Travis Detweiler (travd.tv).

Bankie Travolta – Livin It Up

Fresh New Artist

Here’s a great new track from someone I’ve never heard of. Although I don’t know much about Bankie, this song is a fun pop-party type song. It’s packed with an easily sung chorus and a nice dance beat, which is just screaming to be played at parties. The beat comes in at :51 so be sure to listen to the whole thing. Enjoy! shoutout to SBGMovement via HypeFloats via 201beats for this one.

DJ Fergie Ferg – Please Don’t Walk (Mike Posner x Sufjan Stevens) [ALTERED]

So much feeling

Here’s the next mashup from DJ Fergie Ferg. The mix creates a really chill feel. I’m sure you like it. Check DJ Fergie Ferg out on facebook and check what he said about his mashup:

I just made a new mashup, and thought that you might like it on your blog. It features the Mike Posner – Please Don’t Go vs. Sufjan Stevens – I Walked. It brings Mike’s vocals down to halftempo and gives it the classic Sufjan relaxed feel. Thought Mike’s song needed to be put into halftempo. Sufjan has an amazing song in the same key as Posner’s. It just had to be made!!!

UPDATE: DJ Fergie Ferg added a nice dubstepesque wobble bass line to the chorus at the suggestion of DJ Skeet Skeet, and it really helps fill it out. It’s a new track, so back up to the top for it.

Lil Wayne – I’m Not a Human Being [Official Video]

New Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. Visuals

So with Weezy F. Baby behind bars, we take what we can get. This will appear on The Carter’s I’m Not a Human Being EP. Excuse me, Lil Wayne, but this sounds like rock to me. I don’t care if you manged to destroy 99% of the rappers alive today without much of a beat, I want real rap. Stayed tuned for Lil Wayne to get back to his roots. Enjoy for now..

Sam Adams – Hold On (produced by Rusko)

Dubstep and Frat Rap

New joint from Sam Adams. That is all. Also hit the jump to see J Kidd go in on the same beat (4 minutes into the vid)

Cam’ron & Jim Jones – Toast (Kanye West Diss)

Hahaha, Wow

I can’t tell what’s funnier about this, the god awful singing in the chorus, the fact that Jim Jones and Cam’ron came out with a diss track over the song that stole the VMA’s, or the fact they start it off by saying “people might take this the wrong way . . . they might think we are starting trouble”. Yeezy def did a better job with this, but I can’t pass up posting this, the names are too big and the concept is way too funny. And if you don’t think this is a diss, just check this one lyric . . .

Kanye you a sucka nigga

Big Z Remixes – Runaway (ft. Kanye West, Nas, and AZ)

Life’s a bitch. Make a toast to the douchbags

This mashup mixes Kanye’s “Runaway” with Nas and AZ’s “Life’s a Bitch.” It has some great rapping in it. We just received this from Zach Caraher aka Big Z Remixes, so here’s what he had to say:

Yo I did a mashup of Kanye West’s new song “Runaway” with Nas and AZ. When I heard the song for the first time I thought the beat was sick but it was missing some good rapping so here’s what I added to it.

New Boyz – Spot Right There feat Teairra Mari

Radio Hit

Here is another song that will appear on the New Boyz freshman LP Too Cool To Care. Figured I’d give you the heads up before it starts taking over the radio. No where near ‘You’re a Jerk’ but its a happy-go-lucky song. Minor tags for now. Give it a few hours and I’ll update. Enjoy..
