MARS – Smoke & Mirrors [Mixtape]

Smoke & Mixtape Mirrors

If you guys don’t know MARS by now, or recognize his name from somewhere, this definitely isn’t the first or last time he’s been on GMAD. He already has brought us two major tracks in “The Pulse” and “Heaven”, and finally the whole tape has dropped. The craziest things about MARS is that he’s only 16 and already holds so much talent. The future is open for someone like this kid, so bump his tunes and help him out. Hope you guys like this tape, I’m sure you will be bobbin’ your heads and noddin’ along to these old-school banger beats paired with MARS’ dominant lyricism.

J. Cole Interview [Video]

Thisis50.com sits down with Light Skinned Jermaine.

Asher Roth Interview [Video]

YouHeardThatNew sits down with the man from West Chester, PA.

T.I. Saves Suicidal Man

Basically this was a lucky coincidence and T.I. saved the day. TMZ will go on from here…

It all went down earlier this afternoon — when cops responded to a 911 call about a man who was threatening to jump off a building in downtown Atlanta … the same building where Ryan Cameron’s Radio Show on V103 is based.

We’re told T.I. heard about the jumper on the radio — and called Ryan Cameron to see if there was anything he could do to help out with the situation.

Ryan Cameron tells us … he told T.I. to roll over to the building, where the rapper met with police and recorded a heartfelt video message which cops then played for the man on the roof.

We’re told after the man saw T.I.’s video he agreed to step off the ledge … and met T.I. in the lobby, where the two were able to talk things out.

Ryan Cameron also tells us that cops informed the radio station that they will not be pressing charges against the man.

Here is audio from a call T.I. made to the station regarding the day’s event.

Drake Admits Writing for Nicki Minaj (Kinda) [Video]

Yeah so I’ve been saying this forever, but Nicki is fake (both physically and musically). For example, I once said, “Does everyone just accept that Wayne and/or Drake writes for her or are people ignoring that?” In line with when I said that this summer we finally Drake admitting he does just that. Go away Nicki Minaj. Here album is coming out the same week as some major players so I’m sure it will flop. Thank you B.E.T.

Now that I got that out of the way, what really happened was Drake wrote Alicia Keys’ ‘Unthinkable‘ WITH Nicki in mind. Aka he was planning on writing a song for Nicki. So I still see it as a problem.

The Dean’s List – The People [Updated w/ MP3]

Real Nice Sample

Sampling one of my favorite Empire of the Sun songs, We Are The People, DJ Mendoza creates a very smooth and catchy beat as Sonny Shotz spits some nice verses over it. I really think that The Dean’s List can really get up there with Chiddy Bang with the great production and lyricism that they have, and hopefully they keep the hits coming. This is off their next mixtape titled “The Drive In”, so I hope to get a MP3 soon, but the video will have to do til then. ENJOY!

Royce Da 5’9 – 24 Bars (Drunk)

A Drunk Freestyle

I’m speechless. The fact that he is able to produce work like this drunk is something else. Just true lyricism. I know it’s only 24 bars, but listen to the song and appreciate true talent. Insane. Enjoy…

Blaise Sindone – Dog Days Are Over (Remix) [Ft. Florence and the Machine]

Some pretty good rapping over a very good Florence song

I will not lie about choosing this song. I posted this more for Florence and the Machine in the song than I did for Blaise’s parts. Blaise Sindone still does a pretty good job and happens to have some really good verses. I tend to find it refreshing to hear some rapping over some really good indie and pop songs. I received Blaise’s music from in some emails from Josh Gross and John Hamlet, so here’s what they wished to share about Blaise:

Blaise Sindone is a 20 year old rapper hailing from Long Beach, New York. Yes, his real name is Blaise no nickname, but on a serious note he’s very talented and spits some crazy lyrics. A junior at Boston University, Blaise is starting to seriously pursue his music career and will undoubtably reach success.

Trey Palms – The End

A feel good song from Trey Palms

This is now the fourth time I have featured Trey Palms on GMAD. He just started recording music not too long ago and he has been adding more and more to his collection of quality songs. The song starts off pretty epically with a sample from the movie, the Hangover. The song is all about having a great time every instance you can, with a message to live it up until the end. Trey uses autotune in the song, but he has been proven to be able to do well without it, too. Check out what other songs of his that I have shared with you, like a very good remix to Jack Johnson’s “Flake,” and expect more great songs from Trey Palms soon enough.

SoLo – Every Morning

Insane Sampling and Solid Raps

Let me start off this post by saying the sample in this track is “Every Morning” by Sugar Ray. I never would have even thought to sample this song, but SoLo’s producer did so successfully. He somewhat reminds me of a less-dope Mac Miller, but still with the image and decent rhymes. Anyways, enough with comparisons, enjoy this track as much as I have been and just bob to the beat.

All City Chess Club – I’m Beamin’ (Remix)

Lupe x Asher x Charles Hamilton x Cool Kids x Blu x Diggy x B.o.B. x Dosage

Yes, they are all on this remix, and are collectively known as the All City Chess Club. No hook here, just verse after verse so it’s a strange listen. Lasers on the way thanks to Atlantic and Lupe making up their differences. Enjoy…

Na Palm and Mike Posner – You Don’t Have To Leave (Na Palm Remix)

Ill remix to Posner’s “You Don’t have To Leave”

Na Palm has a lot of talent and holds his own, improving on the original “You Don’t have To Leave” song, by Mike Posner, with some very high quality rapping. Tim featured this song back in April, but of course, the site has grown since then, so many of you have not heard this remix. Na Palm has grown a lot since we first posted him on the site, so expect him to give us some more really good songs in the future. Also, expect some music videos from him soon enough. Check out his last mixtape (one of my favorites of the year) and become a fan of Na Palm on facebook.

Lil Wayne’s Letter #09: ‘I’m Back’

Despite what Wayne said in his last letter, he is back with another installment from behind bars. Text below….

What’s poppin?!

By now I’m guessing that you all have heard about my recent relocation to the bing, which is punitive segregation. Basically, no T.V., no radio, no snacks/junkfood, and one phone call a week. This punishment has been handed to me for my earlier MP3 incident. I admit, I fu#ked up and now I must deal with the consequences. As I write this, I only have 25 days left, and it’ll be even less than that when you read this. So honestly, I’m fine. Obviously, this gives me a lot of time to myself and a lot of alone time with my thoughts, which can be creatively dangerous. I do miss being able to hear from my family everyday but once a week will have to suffice. To them, I apologize. I’m still able to receive mail so reading and responding is still a huge part of my day. I’d like to thank everyone that sent me B-Day cards and wishes… that was terrific. You all are wonderful, simply wonderful.

Well anyways, I just wanted you all to know that I’m good and I’ll be good! But at the end of the day, I did it all for music!!! By the way, thanx for downloading the I Am Not A Human Being album. And if you haven’t done so already, please do! And if you have, do so again! When I get out I’m going to put the album in stores and shoot more videos for it. Which songs should I shoot videos to? Also, we will be adding bonus songs and packaging the newNino Brown DVD with the in store album! You’re welcome.
