Huey Mack – Bright Lights and Long Nights (Mixtape)

A long, but rewarding mixtape that is full of sweet samples and great flow

If you are unaware of Huey Mack’s talent, I will give you my feelings of the mixtape Bright Lights and Long Nights, from front to back. Huey Mack mixes it up often, with quick rhymes and sweet hooks to other, slower songs with dope beats. He even brings in some features that will amaze you, as well. Huey Mack surprises me with this mixtape, which happens to be pack with 21 tracks. If you listen the whole way through, you may find some hidden skits, like the theme song to the popular 90′s Nickelodeon show “Doug” which takes you into Take Me Back, which Huey raps about wishing he could be living in the 90′s again. A litle more in, he raps about hoping to be more popular on the “Popular” song which has a beat that has been very very popular on GMAD. Then, star power emerges with four straight tracks. On “You’re a Star,” Huey brings in his boy from Pittsburgh, Jo Christo, who kills it singing and giving us a optimistic message to keep our heads up because you could make it if you try. On “Live it Up,” which we featured quickly after he posted it on twitter, he raps over the Passion Pit song “Sleepyhead,” working magic saying, “I don’t worry about tomorrow till the night ends.” Huge momentum continues when later moves on to remixing Rihanna’s “Unthinkable (I’m Ready),” which I actually like better than Drake’s remix to it. On the next track, “Let’s Just Say Goodbye,” he want to push a chick away because she and her friends think she is better off without him, he would rather not hear all the rumors, so he wants to let her go. Moving on, he exclaims in “Cheers” that he will continue to do what he does and will make it to the top one day. Then, a surprise overcame me because I know I must have recommended him to sample John Mayer’s “Who Says,” but I have no recollection of the conversation, even though I have been recommending people to sample that song for a couple months now. He says that it was just a random beat he got sent and loved, but I have a feeling I was involved. He takes John Mayer’s song and remixes it with Towelie asking “Wanna Get High” and still includes John mayer singing “Who says I can’t get stoned? Turn off the lights and the telephone. Me in my house, alone, who says I can’t get stoned.” Ending this long review and mixtape, Huey uses another sweet sample to display that he has good taste and complements his rapping very well in Don’t Stop Lovin Me.” Overall, this mixtape is something to pick up based on the great number of tracks that have something special. KAM Royal – Life & Times

Smooth KAM Slow Jam

KAM hit me up with this one two days ago and since then I’ve listened to it multiple times and realized this track is something new and fresh from him. It’s more of a deep, laid back track from KAM bringing a nice chill feel. His new mixtape “Business As Usual” will be out November 13th, KAM’s 20th birthday. Hope you guys like this one, and be sure to check out KAM on Twitter and Facebook.

Split Second – Innocence (Nero Remix)

Filthy remix

Split Second is fresh as usual. They took the popular dubstep track, Nero’s “Innocence,” this time and remix and rework it. The song was made very well and I am loving this new movement toward rap and dubstep mixed together. this may be near the top of the rapping over dubstep I have heard, though, because you can hear Split Second rap and it doesn’t take away from the enjoyment of the original track, it actually makes it better. This is a sweet club track that will be a great addition to your playlist for the weekend. Enjoy. Join Split Second’s growing list of fans at their facebook page.

Mother Earth Remixes – F*ck You Like a G6 (Cee-Lo Green & 50 Cent x Ludacris x Far East Movement)

Mother Earth Remixes is back at it again

Our sponsored artist Mother Earth Remixes aka Andrew David finally gets back to making mashups after a long drought, but this one is worth the wait. He combines 50 Cent’s remix to Cee-Lo Green’s “F*ck You” with Ludacris’ “How Low” with Far east Movement’s “Like a G6.” As usual he blends it all very well together. Check out what he has been able to do it the past because Mother Earth Remixes makes some of the best mashups and happens to be my favorite mashup producer, although there are many gaining on that position. This mashup isn’t the best he has made, but it is very good and I expect that you will enjoy it. Have a great weekend and enjoy all the great football games. Check out Mother Earth Remixes on facebook and also check out his new website which is full of his spectacular music. Also, check out some of our previous favorite songs by him on here.

e-dubble – Get on Board (Freestyle Friday #37)

Get On Board if you haven’t yet!

#37 and still fresh and getting better. We have been on the e-dubble train for over two months, and this has got be be one of my favorites. A always, e-dubble has a nice flow and some of the best lyricism. It seems like he has a thesaurus next to him every time he makes a song. He tends to use a lot of big words to show that he has some talent. Another great beat as we’ve come to expect from him. On this one, he sample the Housemartins’ “People Get Ready.” He seems a bit Kanye-ish on finding some great samples to implement in his songs. He has had some okay songs in between or span of covering him, but he has so many very good songs that you can enjoy all the time. If you don’t believe that this song is good or don’t favor his style on this song, I challenge you to tell me that you don’t enjoy at least three of the other songs we’ve posted of e-dubble. Check out e-dubble on facebook. Are you still not on board with e-dubble yet? Get on board right now, like the song says, and become a fan of e-dubble right now because this song is the shit and he is making good music. e-dubble is signed under Justin Barker and Black Paisley Records, so here’s what Justin has to say about e-dubble:

This is what sets e-dubble apart: he writes, records and produces all of his music independently (no help from a label, management company or audio engineer) in his home studio. On top of he has a job to pay the bills, works on booking shows and whatever else he can fit in.

LJC – Finally Reggin (Biggie x Pretty Lights)

Making something hot out of a lesser known Biggie song

Here’s another mashup from LJC, which is a trio of mashup makers who are pretty unknown, but are doing some big things. This mashup mixes Biggie’s “Ni**as” with Pretty Light’s “Finally Moving” to make something quite special. It’s always refreshing to hear a popular artist’s not so popular acapella get mixed with a popular instrumental. It’s something new and very fun to listen to. If you finad this enjoyable, check out the other mashup we posted of theirs which mixes Wiz Khalifa’s “This Plane” with M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes.” Check out this mashup trio of Luke, Joe, and Charlie aka LJC on facebook.

Tim Gallo ft. Chris Webby – Bad Guy

A sick track with some dope verses

Tim Gallo attends Hofstra with our boy Chris Webby who also happens to be be on this fresh track. Tim Gallo raps on most of the verses while Webby is on the hook and on a really dope verse, too. This duo is fire. They came together on Webby’s mixtape Teenage Mutant Ninja Rapper on the song “Come Fly Away,” which was a very sick track, too, as was the whole TMNR tape. Tim Gallo has a mixtape The TimBuckTape dropping soon, and its projected drop date looks like October 20 for now, but it could change. Expect more hot songs from Tim Gallo and become a fan of his on facebook.

Split Second – Blood Diamond

An ill flow and a nice beat

The only info I received about this track in the email was “banger.” There’s more to this track than just “banger,” though. THe beat of the song seems to take from the move of the same name, “Blood Diamond.” It’s like African music influenced beat. Like they say in the song, they slaughter the beat with the insane lyricism they bring to the song. Split Second is no joke. They are on a mission to bring you good music. You disagree? Check out their most recent tracks we have posted and get back with me. As always, we are very big supporters of the trio known as Split Second. become their fans on facebook.
