Huey Mack – Stars

Brand New Huey

I first posted Huey with my favorite track off of his first mixtape, and it was a hit on GMAD. Here’s another solid track by Mr. Mack off his next mixtape coming out soon. This tracked with more witty lyrics, a solid instrumental with great sampling, and a great production crew. Check it out!

Blue Scholars – Lumière (Main) + (A Capella)

Some of the best from the Northwest

This is something new. In the main version of the song, Blue Scholars choose to go in over The xx’s “Intro” instead of the regular I’ve been hearing, where The xx’s songs are included in mashups. Blue Scholars always have a lot of good lyrical content, along with a legit beat. Blue Scholars are just of the many great Seattle hip-hop acts, other notables ones include Macklemore, Common Market, Dyme Def, Grynch, and Fresh Espresso. This would have been posted yesterday if not for mediafire acting up all day.

It was like November 2009 and I was rolling Beacon Ave with my friend Saman, an Iranian girl who’d grown up between the US / Kenya / England. We were in the Nissan Sentra she’d bought from a mutual friend who’d previously bought it from me, and I had bought it from another Iranian dood in Whitecenter who makes some of the best homemade Joojeh Kabob you’ve ever tasted.

She was playing this record from a band called The xx she recently was referred to by a friend or something off the iPod plugged into the tape-deck thru an adapter while powered by one of those cigarette lighter things from Radio Shack.

Yea that’s right, it’s a cigarette lighter. Funny how new cars don’t have “cigarette lighters” and instead have a circular hole thing for “power supply” that you still need to buy a special adapter for. Originally, plugging your walkman, discman, and later cellphone via adapter into these lighter plugs was an innovative way of drawing power from what was available to you as a car owner.

Now smoking cigarettes is suddenly super taboo and new cars don’t have cigarette lighters built in to them, but they still have this power-hole.

My question was, if you’re gonna make a car with a power-hole, why not just make it a REGULAR OUTLET? If you’re no longer supplying the cigarette lighter, there’s no point in keeping the whole power-hole thing in it’s original form.

Well, more and more new consumer cars have regular outlets now and that makes this whole argument a little moot.

The point is, the speakers in this Nissan Sentra weren’t very good and made the the music that’s being played out of them sound all gray. For this particular record tho, that didn’t matter. Every song on this xx record was already gray (pardon me, “grey”), they all sounded the same, and they were all awesome. Perfect for a November drive in the Town.

As we listened to this record, I turned to Saman and said “you know, one of the first things Blue Scholars became known for was flipping indie-rock samples in rap songs. It fits in with our whole eclectic, international-Seattle identity. Also, the only thing that would make us even more compatible with The xx is if the only South Asian in the group, Baria Qureshi, didn’t quit the band.”

She looked back at me and said “will you please stop talking about work for 5 seconds? I DON’T CARE. Geez.”

This song will be featured on the duo’s Preview EP which we gave you a preview of yesterday. I won’t say much about the song because you know what to except from Chiddy and Xaph by now. Enjoy..

Norwegian Recycling

So I have been sitting on this artist since January of 2009, and figure its worth throwing up now. Some of you may have seen him pop up on some of TCSM albums, but that was just the tip of the iceburg. To give you an idea of what Norwegian Recycling is like you should think of Girl Talk, then the complete opposite. Instead of taking techno, club, rock songs NR takes acoustic songs from DMB, Jack Johnson, Ashley Keys,Jason Mraz, R. Kelly and Howie Day to name a few and assembles them together perfectly. Here are a few songs that have not been released on either of his albums that I think are real good. If you like what you hear or are interested in what else he can do.. a link to his second album, Appetite For Reconstruction will also be located below. ENJOY!

Chris Webby – Studio 2 Studio Freestyle

2 freestyles in one video…. you better bet they’re dirty

Webby travels through New York in a car, freestyling. He’s reppin that classic TMNT tee, as usual. I was up late, so I spotted it on his facebook. Looks like less than 100 people watched it before me. Here’s some great lines off the dome from Webby:

I’m talking HBO flow, cause you know I flow bro. Ain’t no body messin. They seeing Webby in slowmo, cause I go yo, I’m just a pro flow. Every time I get it, rape it, no homo. Cuz that’s just what I do. I see a beat and I stick it in with no condom. I be rippin them.

Go grab his last mixtape, The Underclassmen, if you have neglected to do so before.

SoLo – Showtimez (feat. Na Palm)

Fresh New Talent

Well first of all my apologies to SoLo and Na Palm who both sent me this track about a week ago and I forgot to get it up. Well SoLo is an upcoming rapper from NJ and he hit Na Palm up to get a verse and not only did he spit one but he killed it as a feature on this track (gotta wait til about 2:30 into the song to hear it, and it’s worth it). Not only does Na Palm kill it but SoLo does his thing for sure and shows why he can grab features like this, can’t wait to hear more. Also, I feel the need to just share with you guys what NaPalm wrote to me in the e-mail so you guys can respect this guy a little more and get to know him like I have been lucky enough to. Enjoy . . .

G-Riot – Traces (GMAD Exclusive)

Brand New G-Riot

This guy has been mad impressive lately. He has been releasing tons of free music and it’s all great lyrics combined with perfect beats. This track is catchy and I’m sure it’ll end up on all your iPods. IF any of you appreciate lyrics I gotta pitch his track Moony again which will def make the best lyrics of 2010 for his constant comparisons between a girl and the moon. Here is what he had to say about this track . . .

This track is short and sweet, yet catchy. With only two verses and a quick sampled chorus, this single is a classic one. Check out the lyrics, and comment if you can relate.

OCD: Moosh & Twist – Since Day One (GMAD World Premier)

Someone sign them now!

This is a GoodMusicAllDay World Premier! I was feeling their last single, “No Time!,” so hard, but this song is too nice. Moosh is soooo smooth throughout the song, even murdering the hook, while Twist happens to goin off on a couple dope verses. Their sample, which is explained below, is fresh fresh, as well. It’s been an incredible week in music. We got a whole mixtape of filthy music from Cuey, a great mixtape by Kayo, and a couple hot tracks from Chiddy Bang (idk if they are able to make a bad song together). Let’s keep the streak going strong with this incredible gem. With all that great music, this track happens to make it in my top three tracks of the week (I can’t decide on my favorite). Moosh and Twist both do work, so download this and peep more of their music posted on the site. Oh, and here’s the news you gotta see from OCD: Moosh & Twist:

We’re about a third way done this mixtape which will be called “Up Before The World”. Which will be our sophomore project. The sample in “Since Day One” is from Break Up To Make Up by Jeremih. It’s produced by our main producer who goes by the name of X.Kalibur. In the next coming week or so, we have a video coming out for another song called “Live It Up” off of Up Before The World. The video is shot and directed by Rex Arrow Films (Same director who shot all of Mac Miller videos). Look out for that coming soon and for now visit our facebook page.

Matt Clarke – Drink Up

Get nasty

Here’s a track I expect you to party to. It’s got the perfect lyrics for drinking and having a great time to. The track also happens to have a fine beat to dance to, as well. Check Matt Clarke on facebook. Props to G-Riot’s manager, Jared Glassman for the tip:

Matt Clarke – A 21 year old college student from Arlington MA (10 minutes from Boston), currently in his last semester at Middlesex Community College (also has credits at Berklee). Opened for artists such as Jadakiss, Sheek Louch and Styles P (Aka “The Lox”), Chris Webby and has been consistently performing since May. He will be at The Middle East in Cambridge MA on September 22nd and In Plymouth MA on October 23rd for a Juelz Santana, JR Writer Show. His music ranges from lyrical concept tracks to club tracks but considers himself a poet/writer first and entertainer/rapper second. JurisDoc – Dead Wrong About Cameras (Matt & Kim vs The Notorious B.I.G.)

A very well-made mashup

This has been in the inbox for days now, and it just happened to play on my recently added list. We featured iSh the other day with his sample of Matt & Kim’s “Cameras,” which was really good, but this is quite different. It has Biggie and it makes you appreciate Biggie’s “Dead Wrong” a lot more. This song propels itself onto my list of favorite mashups. Here’s what James P. Dickinson aka JurisDoc wrote on his blog, SoFlyFish, about his mashup:

Matt & Kim came out with a pretty good track called Cameras, and I felt that it would be much more of a hot jam with a Biggie acapella over it. So I did just that. The audio on “Dead Wrong” might not be of the highest quality (considering he’s been dead for 13 years, this acapella is pretty good as it is) but the song meshed together sounds great. Hope everyone enjoys listening to this track as much as I enjoyed creating it
